Description:
Once again I would like to discuss how and when Inputs are being validated within a Catalog Item. Therefore, I would like to request a change of validation check for the Input of Type Disk.
In my understanding there is one ( ! ) Verify Pattern for actual two fields:
Unfortunately, the Verify Pattern leads to errors within the Catalog - independent of what you configure as Verify Pattern and also as Input:
Within Support Case 208073 the reason for the behavior was found as the Verify Pattern is only checking the second field, that is the disk size. Whereas, we have expected to check only the first field, that is the disk name. Anyway, both fields satisfy the given Verify Pattern but throw an error and hence, the Verify Pattern is not usable at all.
I suggest a new solution derived from a deeper look to the second field, that is the disk size:
This field is tracked live - and if you type something, this is reflected in a validation and shows out on the Price. Hence, we have a live tracked field for Inputs. Heureka!
I would like to have the chance for Inputs of Type Disk to validate both fields separately from each other. And, I would like to have more live tracker inputs rather than a Validate Pattern that is validated after “Order” only.
Please provide a Validate Pattern for the first field, that is disk name. And also provide more live tracker inputs for Validate Pattern as an option within the Forms. The administrator should be able to choose between “Check on Order” or “Check Live” … or something like that.
Example/Use case(s):
The User Experience with Inputs would be greatly enhanced by more intelligent Validate Patterns. The example of the Input of Type Disk shows: the user can put in whatever disk name and it is never checked but leads to problems during deployment. The disk size is checked online/live and leads to different prices adhoc. Why not give the chance to configure live checks for Validate Pattern too in Forms by an option field “Check Live” or adequate?
