We commonly deploy solutions into multiple VMware clouds. For example, when deploying a clustered SQL Server we would deploy one node to a cloud in Ohio and one node to a cloud in Colorado. Is there a way to do this in a single instance type or do I end up having to do an app blueprint?

An instance consists of one of more VMs, which are associated to a single cloud technology via the layout. If you want to deploy across multiple clouds in a single provisioning action, then you are correct and would need to use an app blueprint.
