Change IP from the same vlan

Description:
Hello,
We want to be able to change the IP address of a specific VM with another IP from the same vlan.
We want to release the initial allocated IP and reserve the new IP in the pool.
What is the best way to achieve this ?

  • If I reserve manually an IP in the network pool and then I assign the IP inside the operating system, I am not able to release the initial allocated IP
  • If I reserve manually an IP in the network pool then I need to remember that IP when I will decommission the VM to clean-up the IP reservation
  • We would like to offer this option as a “self-service” option for Virtual Machine owners

Example/Use case(s):
Some projects/developers want to change the IP of a specific VM because they already have multiple firewall rules/whitelists created on that specific IP ( for internal network or for client environment)
